Overview

Jensen Hughes is seeking a Building/Life Safety Code Consultant, trained in Architecture or Engineering, for our Chicago area offices.  We are looking for motivated, experienced individuals to work in all aspects of life safety with a strong focus on building codes and interpretation of life safety requirements. Responsibilities

The successful applicant will have a well-rounded background in building and life safety code consulting. The role will involve collaboration across multiple teams and disciplines for highly visible projects around the world.  Key tasks will be providing best in class technical solutions to architect/engineering design teams and installation contractors.

  • Management and implementation of a wide variety of life safety and fire safety related consulting projects.
  • Evaluate projects for compliance with egress, fire resistance, interior finishes classification, occupancy, fire safety systems requirements
  • Satisfy client needs and expectations by completing assigned tasks on schedule and within budget.
  • Preparation of project-related technical reports.
  • Effectively communicate with project team members, clients, and others.
  • Local travel requirements to project sites and team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in Consulting, Architecture, or Engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or higher.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present clear and technically sound life safety and building code compliance strategies.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others.
  • Fire alarm and sprinkler system understanding, applications, knowledge, or experience is desired. 
  • Accessibility consulting experience a plus but not required.
  • Registered Architect or Professional Engineer or other professional designation preferred but not required.
