Overview

Jensen Hughes is seeking a Healthcare Life Safety and Emergency Management Consultant in our Plainville, CT office. Jensen Hughes is a leading healthcare engineering and consulting firm providing a range of professional services including building design and construction consulting, life safety assessments, door inspections, fire training and emergency management consulting on local, national, and international projects.

 

The ideal candidate is an energetic, detail-focused team member to provide exceptional Life Safety Code and fire safety consulting and fire and emergency management consulting to our healthcare clients.

Responsibilities

  • Management and implementation of a wide variety of Life Safety and Emergency Management consulting projects in the healthcare market.
  • Responsible for fire code assessments of healthcare facility for compliance with applicable codes, standards and regulations including NFPA, Joint Commission, CMS, DNV and other AHJs.
  • Responsible for program assessments and HVA’s, plan/procedure design, training and drills/exercises for our healthcare clients
  • Satisfy client needs and expectations by completing assigned tasks on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate and conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and site visits.
  • Preparation and peer review of project-related technical reports.
  • Effectively communicate with project team members, clients, and others.
  • Writing and pricing proposals
  • Assist with business development activities

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in, fire protection, fire science, safety, or related degree is preferred. An associate degree coupled with experience and/or state or federal certification will be considered.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in emergency management or related degree is preferred. An associate degree coupled with experience will be considered.
  • Excellent project coordination, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a high level of productivity under pressure, with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrate the ability to exercise good judgment and effectively manage communications
  • Excellent phone / communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to translate codes, regulations, guidelines and standards into practical processes
  • Possess a strong knowledge of the NFPA 101 (The Life Safety Code), The Joint Commission LS and EC standards and working knowledge of all appropriate NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 13, 72 and 25)
  • Capable of conducting full wall-to-wall assessments of healthcare facilities and capture information, develop plans of correction and work with clients to implement
  • Possess knowledge of the CMS 2016 Emergency Preparedness Rule, The Joint Commission EM, DNV and HFAP standards, and baseline knowledge of NFPA standards (e.g., 99-12)
  • Effectively coordinate and run meetings/workshops/exercises with local/regional healthcare and emergency response partners
  • Excel at public speaking engagements with clear and concise messages to engage and energize an audience
  • Strong knowledge and experience with current Microsoft Office suite of products (ability to work in Word and PowerPoint is a must)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment
  • Extensive travel is required with options for international travel
  • This position ideally will be based out of Plainville, CT or Fairport, NY. However, a remote work location will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
