Overview

Code Unlimited, a Jensen Hughes company, has a newly created opportunity for a Senior Fire Protection Engineer in our Seattle, WA or Portland, OR office locations.  This is a strategic growth position that calls for an experienced candidate with the ability to work directly with clients and perform their own technical work (Seller/Doer).  Remote and hybrid work options are available in the West Coast for experienced Fire protection engineers with client connections and business development capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Management and implementation of a wide variety of consulting projects. Lead a team of 2–5 on variety of projects
  • Satisfy client needs and expectations by completing assigned tasks on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate and conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and site visits.
  • Preparation and peer review of project-related technical reports.
  • Develop fire protection strategies, performance-based design approaches, and alternative solutions to resolve client design issues.
  • Effectively communicate with project team members, clients, and others.
  • Mentor and train junior staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Chemical or Fire Protection)
  • Registered Professional Engineer or other professional designation in Fire protection is required.
  • 10+ years of experience in Building Code and Fire Protection Consulting.
  • The ideal candidate will be a "Doer Seller", with client connections and ability to develop new business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in developing building code concepts and equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews, and conducting field reviews/inspections.
  • Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, enjoy professional challenges, and endeavor to be an integral part of the long-term growth of Jensen Hughes.
