Overview

Jensen Hughes has an exciting job opportunity for a senior civil structural engineer in our Mountlake Terrace, WA office. The position could also be located in our Portland, OR office or in our Dallas, Texas locations (and elsewhere in the US for an experienced candidate).  The ideal candidate will be a licensed civil/structural engineer with a background in forensics, design, and construction.


 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will grow their career in Forensics and work on a variety of projects in a dynamic environment with multi-disciplined engineers.   The position includes both office and field duties.  The position requires excellent communications skills and the ability to work cooperatively with a variety of other professionals in the engineering and scientific disciplines.   The applicant must be motivated and ready to contribute in any way needed to provide excellent client service and support to the other professionals in the company. This is a full-time opportunity that will provide new challenges, new experiences and a goal-oriented team atmosphere. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher and 8+ related years experience.  We are also interested in candidates that have less experience that have a strong background in forensics.
  • Forensic experience and/or experience at an engineering consulting firm highly desirable. 
  • Analysis and design capabilities with wood, steel, concrete, and masonry.
  • Building envelope failure analysis and evaluation is highly desirable.
  • Extensive field experience to include knowledge of what a design on paper looks like in the field.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to produce quality technical reports.
  • Capable of simplifying complex topics and relaying verbally and in writing for non-engineering clients.
  • Ability to operate independently on both small and large projects.
  • A professional engineer registration is required.
  • Must the ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, reach/work overhead.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
  • Must be able to carry 50 lbs.
  • Some possible travel 10-15%. Most would be regional/local trips but a few overnight trips/year could be required.
