Overview

Jensen Hughes is seeking a Consulting Engineer in the Baltimore-DC area with 25% travel to support local clients. The position joins the Risk Informed Services division of Jensen Hughes and will work with experienced professionals including probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) engineers on the Energy & Utilities team which provides premium nuclear safety and reliability consulting services. This is a dynamic, technically rewarding position that offers both a team and an independent work environment, including substantial onsite client interface.

Responsibilities

The consulting engineer's functions as part of a corporate risk management team that interfaces with multiple nuclear plant departments to implement the risk management (PRA) program. This includes providing technical consulting on a wide range of engineering and regulatory projects in addition to supporting day-to-day nuclear power plant operations. Specific work tasks include:

 

  • supporting Maintenance Rule implementation
  • advising work planners on scheduling of maintenance activities to minimize risk
  • maintaining and updating configuration risk management software models
  • responding to emergent plant risk management activities and risk-related issues
  • interfacing with plant operations and other engineering departments on risk-related items

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical engineering and at least 2+ years of experience in Navy nuclear or commercial nuclear power plants. Specific requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering
  • 2 years related experience
  • Experience in nuclear, Navy or utilities is also desired.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
