Overview

JENSEN HUGHES has an exciting new position for a Senior Investigator in our Chicago, Illinois office. The position could possibly be based in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin or anywhere in the greater Chicago area.  The position will conduct investigations, research and analysis on a wide variety of investigation subjects.  The successful candidate joins a security Risk and Investigative consulting firm and will report directly to our Investigations practice. 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Financial and fraud-related investigations; investigate a wide range of internal matters – either as an extension of departments such as Security, HR or on behalf of counsel.
  • Compliance and administrative investigations, either independently or an extension of the Client.
  • Detailed background investigations, including witnesses or subjects of an investigation or party to a suit.
  • Investigations to locate, identify and recover concealed or undisclosed assets.
  • Identification of potential witnesses and subjects for interviews by or on behalf of a client.
  • Quality control through managing and fact-checking other team members' work and the final deliverable.
  • Provide support and subject matter expertise for domestic and international due diligence and investigation projects.
  • Network with professional colleagues through seminars, conferences and meetings.
  • Collaborate with and mentor other investigators to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Keep current on public records resources in the U.S.
  • Stay up to date on social media platforms and open-source investigation tools and techniques
  • Prepare well-written documentation of investigative findings
  • Ensure work is completed on time and within budget

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher and 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Analyze and evaluate data and information, and summarize findings in a clear and concise manner for stakeholders and clients
  • Experience in conducting complex investigations, due diligence and OSINT work including in person interviews and social media and open-source public records query and examination
  • Experience navigating investigative research methodologies is desirable, experience that is beneficial includes the use of online public records portals, on-site systems for municipal courthouses and agencies, and subscription databases (e.g., Lexis, Westlaw, PACER, TLO, Accurint).
  • Ability to construct search strings and use of Boolean operators for database research
    Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Self-motivated, friendly and enthusiastic worker, who enjoys being part of a team
  • Excellent organization and writing ability
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and deadlines
  • Position would ideally be based in the greater Chicago metro areas, but a qualified
  • candidate could also be based in a surrounding Midwest state.
