Jensen Hughes has a career opportunity for an experienced Fire Protection Engineer to add to our expanding Austin, Texas office.  The role will mentor several other engineers and help us continue to grow the local business.  Depending on the level of experience and license, this position could be a Mid or Sr. level.  We are a leading fire protection consulting firm providing a range of professional services involving life safety, fire protection, security and mass notification on commercial, institutional and industrial projects for clients worldwide.

Responsibilities

Qualified candidates will have a degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related engineering discipline with fire protection experience and a minimum of 5 years of experience. The successful candidate will:

 

  • Design fire protection systems for a variety of exciting projects and clients
  • Plan and direct engineering activities for your own projects, including multi-disciplinary projects
  • Conduct building fire protection, code and life safety evaluations
  • Conduct site visits for inspection and commissioning of fire and life safety systems
  • Develop performance-based design solutions and utilize fire and egress modeling software’s
  • Prepare and present technical reports and presentations for Clients and AHJs
  • Project manage and mentor Associate level staff

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering (or related discipline) with 5-8+ years of related experience.
  • AutoCAD experience and/or experience with Revit desirable
  • Fire and egress modeling experience (FDS, CONTAM, Pathfinder, etc.)
  • Licensed as Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies
